Glide Missoula (USHPA chapter) site guide gives explicit numbers. Mount Sentinel is a mountain thermal site with multiple launches. North Summit North launch faces NNW (ideal 320-360, PG acceptable 300-020). SW/South/Cox launches cover SW-W-NW (SW launch ideal 200-250, PG acceptable 160-280; South 220-270; Cox 180-320). All launches: 0 min / 10 ideal / 20 mph max, gust limit ~5 mph for PG and ~10 mph for HG. HAZARDS: strong venturi forms in the canyon between Sentinel and Jumbo on westerly winds - avoid strong W flow. Rotor potential behind launch area, ridgelines, tree lines, or houses. Mountain flying experience recommended. BEST TIME: morning/evening for less-experienced pilots; midday thermals can be strong (altitude records ~15,000 ft, distance ~100 mi toward Helena). RATING/ACCESS: H3/P3/M2 to fly alone; new pilots must fly with a local first. Road (Crazy Canyon Rd) access opens May 1 and requires being on the approved vehicle list; paragliders can hike up year-round. Easterly quadrant (~030-150) does not work.
