Bachelor Mountain, a SoCal thermal/XC launch near Lake Skinner in Riverside County (not the Oregon ski area). The southwest face works best on S/SW winds, off a small, tight takeoff with punchy thermals, so time your launch between cycles. Mid-day to early afternoon is the thermal window; avoid any N/E component (lee rotor). No lift means a sled ride to fields near Lake Skinner — watch for power lines. Access is by hiking the fire road or the west ridge.
