Big M / Platte Mound near Platteville, WI — a ~450 ft grassy mound (home of the world's largest hillside 'M') that faces west and, thanks to its broad shape, works anywhere from NW around through S, with SW-to-W the strongest. Expect punchy thermals off the dark plowed fields out front — great lift but rough at midday, so smoother morning and evening soaring is best. Watch the tall radio/antenna towers on the summit as a launch obstruction and drive the soft rutted farm road up carefully. Access is across private land — confirm landowner permission before flying. Primitive camping on site.
