The wind must blow from within this arc. Direction is the same for both wings.
Ideal speed
6–13 mph
Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
West-facing P3/H4 foot-launch near Benton, TN with a narrow, steep slot launch and a long glide to the LZ. Works best on a straight-in west to northwest wind for good ridge lift; the valley also produces reliable thermals. Any cross wind on the tight launch is a problem, and the LZ turns thermic on late afternoons. Club membership and an intermediate-plus rating are expected.
