East-facing cliff launch on Pigeon Mountain (Crockford-Pigeon Mountain WMA, La Fayette, GA); P3/H4 advanced site, USHPA-insured. Core flyable direction is straight E; the club guide states it is ridge-soarable in ~7 mph+ East winds, so wind is REQUIRED to launch (no-wind launch not viable off the cliff). Ideal arc centers tightly on E (~75-105 deg); marginal/edge into NE and SE (octant hint NE,E,SE) as cross conditions where lift weakens and launch becomes trickier. Launch is a sheer 90-degree rock face dropping ~30 ft to treetops then steeply beyond; ~70 ft wide (widens to the rear), holds 2-3 gliders. Hazards: close trees on the descent, and a rock outcrop on the RIGHT side of launch that requires good, committed launch technique; west/backside winds produce rotor and are unflyable. Speed/gust ceilings are inferred (no explicit club numbers found) - treat strong, gusty E flow with caution given the committing cliff exit. Best in steady E ridge-lift conditions; thermic midday cycles can add to ridge lift. Access via Hwy 136/193 to Chamberlain Rd; instruction must be by USHPA-certified instructors.
