Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.

A private, NW-to-north-facing ridge near Huntsville and the main free-flight site in Alabama. It works on a north wind (about 325-035) at 8-15 mph as the flow compresses against the hillside; flyable year-round with good summer ridge lift. Access is permission-only — you must be a 'Friend of Robert' with the owner. South or east winds put you in the lee with rotor. Best for P2+ pilots who've had a site intro from the owner.
