Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
A ~400 ft butte above the hay fields near Palmer, a popular training and ridge-soaring hill. The SW-facing South Launch works best in light S-to-SW wind (about 8-10 mph); gust tolerance is very low and it blows out fast, so keep it mellow. Don't launch in N/E winds. It sits in a mixing zone where Knik and Matanuska valley outflow collides with air off the Arm, so it can turn turbulent quickly. Large hay-field LZ to the south; access via the dirt road past the reindeer farm. Also a good kiting and mini-wing hill.
