"Nike Site" = Nike Site Summit area on Mt. Gordon Lyon in Arctic Valley, ~3800 ft MSL on the eastern edge of Anchorage (JBER/Chugach State Park boundary), flown by the Arctic Air Walkers (USHPA chapter, oldest US PG club). High alpine ridge launch. Best/ideal works in W through NW (roughly 270-340 deg); SW and N/NE are flyable/marginal edge directions per the paraglidingEarth orientation hint (N,NE,SW,W,NW octants). Arctic Air Walkers guidance for the Arctic Valley/Mt. Baldy area gives ideal cycles around NW-to-SW at ~7-12 mph (Anchorage ASOS reference), light gusts preferred (keep gust spread under ~5 mph); 15 mph is the practical upper base limit before it gets sporty for paragliders. HAZARDS/NOTES: terrain is high and exposed -- watch for rapidly building afternoon thermals, valley/anabatic flow, and lee-side rotor if wind backs to the S/SE (backside). ACCESS CAUTION: Nike Site Summit itself sits on/near JBER active military land with restricted public access (authorized tours only); confirm legal launch/landing access and current restrictions with Arctic Air Walkers before flying. Best in stable mornings or evening glass-off; suited to P2+ pilots comfortable in alpine air. NUMBERS ARE INFERRED from AAW area guidance + orientation hint, not a published Nike-specific site card (AAW site pages returned 403 to automated fetch).
