Flattop near Anchorage is a multi-launch mountain site managed by the Arctic Air Walkers (USHPA chapter). Three launches give it a wide working arc: West launch works 200-300 deg, North launch 330-010 deg, and South launch 160-230 deg, each with an ideal base wind around 5 mph. The combined ideal/reliable arc runs from W through NW to N (~200 deg around through 010 deg via 270/360); the South launch (160-230) covers the SW/S marginal edge. Despite the orientation hint listing E, there is no dedicated east launch: strong easterly flow usually means a katabatic/gradient blow down Turnagain Arm and pilots typically hike down rather than fly. Per-launch max is ~10 mph with 5 mph gusts; the club caps the whole site at USHPA P2 operating limits of 12 mph base / 15 mph peak gust because it is a high-consequence mountain launch. Rated P3 recommended (each launch listed P2/M2 minimum, but P3 skills advised). HAZARDS: winds shift quickly at launch and in the LZs due to convergence, divergence and mixing valley flows; thermic/convergence cycles common; rotor and lee-side risk if wind is off-direction for the chosen launch. Best in light, stable mid-day conditions with smooth onshore/anabatic flow on the correct facing launch. Elevation 3484 ft MSL, popular hiking peak (Chugach State Park) so expect foot traffic on launch.
