10–17 mph
Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating). Switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Flat Gulf shoreline (~3 ft) with no real ridge - used mainly for powered paragliding and beach/dune soaring on a strong, steady onshore sea breeze. Ideal is a clean onshore flow from the SE quadrant; needs a brisk (~10-17 mph) smooth breeze to stay up but gets unsafe much above ~20 mph. Best in the afternoon. Hazards: gusty flow behind dunes and structures, soft sand, being blown back over land, and fast-building Gulf convection.
