Hopewell Junction is a Hudson Valley (Dutchess County) thermal/XC site launching off a SE-facing ridge that heats up early, so soaring can start mid-morning in summer. Best in light-to-moderate SE-S flow around 6-14 mph; it gets thermic and punchy by midday, so keep the base wind under ~16 mph. The LZ is the tricky part, a downslope landing with power lines that needs a careful approach. Get a site intro before flying; it flies like a P3 (or P2 with a mentor) given the XC potential and awkward LZ.
