Top of the range for paragliding (any rating). Switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Launch on the Kingsbury Grade / Daggett Pass ridge (~6,700 ft) on the east side of the Carson Range above Carson Valley — strong thermal/XC country. Faces the valley, so it works best in a SE wind, with E and S as marginal edges. Prevailing W/SW flow over the Sierra crest can throw strong lee rotor onto this east face, so wind aloft from the west is dangerous even with a light easterly on the ground. Afternoon valley thermals build strong; mornings are usually smoother. Intermediate-plus; confirm access and current numbers with a local pilot or Carson Valley school.
