East-facing escarpment above the desert near Mount Laguna (SDHGPA) — a premier thermal/convergence XC site ("mini Owens"), 100+ mi possible. Works on an easterly wind, ideal NE-E (45-90), light: PG around 7 mph, HG to ~12. Conditions change fast and the only LZ is a 45-min drive down to the desert floor, so a driver is required. Afternoons can blow down from the west, and Santa Ana events bring dangerous strong east winds with little warning. H3+/P4 (or P3+ supervised). Sensitive permit site: fly only with an active SDHGPA member and a full briefing; SDHGPA + USHPA required.
