Limestone bluff on the Wisconsin shore of Lake Pepin facing west over the lake. Launching is prohibited here: the bluff is the Maiden Rock Bluff State Natural Area and WI DNR bans hang gliders and launching. Historically pilots only soared Lake Pepin bluffs in winter when the frozen lake gave the only safe LZ; in summer there is no good landing at the base. Not a legal free-flight launch. The modern Lake Pepin operation (Eagle Hang Gliding) is boat/aerotow, not this bluff.
