4–8 mph

Ceiling · Paragliding

≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23

Top of the range for paragliding (any rating). Switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.

South/southwest-facing launch run by Sun Valley Paragliders just outside Hailey in the Wood River Valley. Works on a light south to southwest wind (ideal only a few mph, gusts under ~18). Famous as a glass-off site, best on autumn evenings. Launch ~6,800 ft and LZ ~5,600 ft, so you need a solid glide (about 5.6:1) to make it out. P3 required (P2 with a member-led intro); 4x4 or hike access, and some private property to respect.

Window data compiled from sunvalleyparagliders.org, public site guides and club resources.
