Low (~165 ft) NW-facing ocean-bluff soaring site above the South Spit of Humboldt Bay, 12 miles south of Eureka. It works in onshore NW flow, which the prevailing summer sea breeze delivers, so it can soar much of the day. It's a small, short ridge that gets crowded and can build to blowback quickly, with lee rotor behind the bluff edge - watch for marine-layer fog and a strengthening afternoon gradient. Winter S winds are off-orientation. County park used as an HG/PG staging area; get a briefing if you're new.
