Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Coastal dune soaring on Monterey Bay, run by the Coastal Condors since 1974. Faces west into the Pacific sea breeze; ideal wind is straight-in W (270-290). PG flies roughly 10-18 mph, HG can handle up to about 25. Best mid-to-late afternoon once the seabreeze builds; watch for blown-out conditions once PG wind tops ~18 mph. H3/P3 minimum, mandatory daily sign-in, USHPA + club membership. Seasonal snowy plover nesting closures restrict dune access, dogs prohibited, and as of spring 2026 the HG setup area was roped off for construction.
