APE (Atlanta Paragliding Enterprises, ~771 ft MSL, NE Georgia near Lula/Gillsville) is a flatland WINCH-TOW and POWERED-PARAGLIDING / training field, NOT a ridge-soaring launch with a fixed aspect. That is why nearly all octants (N,NE,E,SE,S,SW,W,NW) are listed as usable: a tow/winch field works in essentially any wind direction because pilots tow up into whatever the wind is. APPI/paraglidingEarth list NNE, ESE, SSW, W, NW as nominal directions, but the field is omnidirectional in practice. Best flying is in light, smooth, steady wind — calm-to-light early morning or late evening for PPG, and light wind for winch tows; avoid strong/gusty thermic midday wind which makes towing and launching hazardous. Listed as 'very nice and beginner-friendly site.' Site is private/operator-run (Dirk van Rees) — towing requires tow/winch endorsement, supervision, and operator permission; not a free open-access cliff launch. No significant ridge/rotor terrain given the flat foothills setting, but standard flatland thermal turbulence and surrounding obstacles (trees, power lines along Bold Springs Church Rd) apply. Ideal ~2-10 mph base, usable to ~12 mph base / ~15 mph gust for winch ops; lighter is better for PPG.
