Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
South-facing cliff launch (~2,700 ft) run by the South Carolina Hang Gliding Association — hang gliders only, no paragliding. Flies in light SE-to-S winds not much over 12 mph; it's a thermal/light-and-variable site, not ridge soaring. SW forecasts usually blow more westerly and cross at the mountain, turning rowdy above 8 mph. H3 site (visiting H2 only with mountain experience and an H3 at launch); current USHPA membership, waivers, a reserve, and a local pilot required. LZ off Highway 11 near Landrum.
