Wind direction
WNW (285°) → NNW (345°)
The wind must blow from within this arc. Direction is the same for both wings.
Ideal speed
8–15 mph
Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Small, steep roll-off ridge/training launch on the Big Piney near Hector, working best in NW wind (roughly WNW to N). The LZ sits directly below launch, so it's low-commitment but leaves little room if things go wrong — be set before you commit. Best in steady, laminar conditions; avoid strong or gusty fronts.
