CLOSED SITE - do not fly. "The Rock" is a closed launch within the Blossom Valley / Alpine flying area of San Diego County (SDHGPA). The "(Closed)" in the site name and the absence of any dedicated active site guide confirm it is no longer a sanctioned/accessible launch (access/landowner issues typical of this region). Orientation hint is W; values inferred from the neighboring Blossom Valley site which works ~7-12 mph WNW, max ~13 mph PG / 15 mph HG, low gust tolerance (PG ~4-5 mph gust spread). Ideal arc set to W-WNW (~260-290 deg) with a marginal cross arc of ~240-310 deg. Regional hazards for this complex include turbulent thermals ("Thumper"), high-tension powerlines in the valley, limited/no sanctioned valley LZ, and one of the highest mountain-site accident rates in San Diego. Best time: early evening in summer, afternoon after peak heating other seasons. Rating in the area is advanced (H4/P4, M2 recommended). Treat all numbers as low-confidence proxies from the adjacent Blossom Valley guide, not site-specific data for The Rock.
