Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
A W-NW-facing SDHGPA mountain site with the highest accident rate of the San Diego mountain launches - advanced pilots only. Ideal is WNW at 7-12 mph; any south component builds dangerous rotor and lee. There's no sanctioned valley LZ (power lines below), so top-landing is effectively required. Watch "Thumper," a violent leeside thermal north of launch - don't scratch below launch height there. H4/P4 recommended, mandatory briefing with locals; if the locals aren't flying, there's a reason.
