Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Rarely-flown, expert-only SW/W-facing SDHGPA site. Works on a SW-W wind (220-250) at 7-10 mph, best in evening glass-off; summer is strong and turbulent. Rated P4+/H4+ — SDHGPA actually recommends against flying here and points pilots to Little Black or Big Black instead. Hazards: boulder/old-mine terrain with no real LZ, unpredictable micro-wind directions, and a tight ~3,800 ft airspace ceiling (Miramar) leaving only about 1,000 ft over launch. Go only with a local and a site briefing.
