"Mt Bachelor" = Bachelor Mountain near Lake Skinner, Riverside County, CA (a SoCal Desert Air Riders / inland-area site), not the Oregon ski-area Mt Bachelor despite the name. Launch is on the SOUTHWEST face of the mountain, so it works best with S/SW winds (paraglidingEarth rates S and SW 2/2, W 1/2 marginal). The takeoff area is small, so a bit of experience and confidence is required to launch cleanly. Primarily a thermal/XC site with "bumpy, punchy thermals" rolling through launch — handle with caution and time launches between cycles. Mid-day to early afternoon is best for thermal activity. Ideal wind ~8-15 mph; avoid much above ~18 mph base given the tight launch and punchy conditions. If no lift, it offers a fun sled ride down to fields near Lake Skinner — watch for scattered power lines in the LZ. Access is via hiking the fire road on the north side or bushwhacking up the west ridge. Avoid any northerly/easterly component (lee-side rotor on this SW-facing launch).
