Bee Canyon LFB ("Little F***ing Bump") is a thermic hang-gliding launch in the San Bernardino National Forest (~3,500 ft), a low hill facing generally West above Hwy 74, ~20 mi SE of Riverside. Per The Hang Gliding Files site guide it works BEST in W-to-NW winds at 10-20 mph; SW winds are flyable but more turbulent and cross (marginal). Ideal arc ~270-315 (W-NW); marginal edges into SW (225-270) and just past NW (315-330). Being a thermic site, expect thermic cycles/turbulence on strong days; W-NW valley flow up from the Hemet/San Jacinto Valley is the working direction. Max base ~20-22 mph (hang glider); gusts above ~25 mph or strong SW cross become unsafe. LZ is across from the canyon entrance on Hwy 74 (~2,000 ft, tapered ~250x1000 ft, oak tree and abandoned buildings to avoid). Predominantly a hang-gliding site; PG works on lighter/cleaner W-NW cycles. Best flown midday-afternoon for thermals; avoid strong-wind or cross-SW days.
