Coastal levee/dike site at ~20 ft MSL on Galveston Bay; primarily a powered paragliding (PPG) and coastal soaring location run by the local TXWingNuts club. Works on smooth, laminar ONSHORE flow off the Gulf: best with wind FROM the N, NE, E through SE (ideal arc ~020-120 deg, marginal/edge extending to N (~340) and toward S/SSE (~160)). AVOID any wind with a WEST component: westerly/offshore flow comes over land (Texas City, refineries) and a protected bird sanctuary, producing turbulence, thermal punch and rotor at all times of day - considered unflyable/dangerous from the W. Best time of day is morning/evening for smoothest laminar sea-breeze flow; mid-day can get thermic. Airspace/access constraints: do NOT overfly the bird sanctuary immediately west of launch, do NOT fly over Texas City (congested airspace, no overflight at any altitude); may fly south to the Texas City Dike. Avoid overflying fishermen, kitesurfers and windsurfers. Speed numbers are inferred coastal-flying norms (no explicit club-published mph limits found): ideal ~8-18 mph, max base ~22 mph, gust ceiling ~25 mph; keep gust spread low. Directions are high-confidence (club guide + paraglidingEarth agree); speeds are medium-confidence inference.
