The wind must blow from within this arc. Direction is the same for both wings.
Ideal speed
10–18 mph
Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Flat Gulf-coast beach near Freeport used by the TXWingNuts club, mainly for powered paragliding. At sea level with no ridge or dune there's no soaring lift, so free flight here is limited to kiting or sea-breeze work in a steady onshore SE-S wind. Offshore (N/NW) flow gives rotor off the dunes and is unflyable. Public beach - check Quintana Beach County Park access.
