ACCESS: Site is currently CLOSED/inaccessible — privately owned land outside Kremmling, behind a locked gate; The Hang Gliding Files reports no more flying (insurance/access issues) and RMHPA lists it as having no good legal access. Confirm permission before any visit. ORIENTATION: Launch faces mostly N to NW (N–NW), with wide-open sloping grassy launches; described as good for beginner through advanced pilots. Ideal wind is FROM the NW–N (~315–360); marginal/cross extends WNW (~280) around to NNE (~30). Nearby Williams Peak/Ute Peak range works best in W and gives some lift in NW. HAZARDS: High-altitude mountain site (~8,356 ft MSL) — true airspeed is high, thin air, expect strong midday thermals and the usual Colorado overdevelopment/gust-front risk; lee-side rotor if wind backs to S/SE behind the butte. BEST TIME: Mellow mornings for smooth ridge/sled flights; thermic but potentially rough by early-to-mid afternoon. NOTE: No published club/USHPA speed limits found — ideal/max speeds are inferred for a gentle beginner-friendly N-facing mountain launch and should be treated as rough estimates.
