Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
A short thermal/slope launch around 6,300 ft in the San Bernardino Mountains near Big Bear, facing NE and flown in light NE wind only. Best in morning-to-midday cycles before things overdevelop; it's not a strong-wind ridge site. Landing options out front are sparse. Not a CSS-managed site - get an in-person briefing from a local first. 4x4 access off Hwy 18, P3/H3 minimum, USHPA membership required.
