Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Desert-side thermal/soaring launch near Wrightwood (~4,777 ft launch, ~3,091 ft LZ) in the Crestline region. Works best in NW to NE winds. This is NOT a CSS-managed site - get an in-person briefing from a local pilot before flying. Intermediate P3/H3 minimum; access needs a decent-clearance 2WD SUV/truck. High-desert thermals get strong and can overdevelop in the afternoon, so favor mid-morning to early afternoon; watch for lee rotor if wind backs to the S/SE.
