Calabasas is a Santa Monica Mountains site flown by the Malibu Paragliding Club, with launches off high hills near Mulholland Hwy overlooking the town of Calabasas (W/SW-facing terrain, ~1637 ft). Works on the onshore/west sea-breeze cycle; ideal arc is W through SW/NW matching the SW-W-NW orientation hint. Described as an intermediate-level site: large grassy launch and landing fields, beautiful mountain views, but thermals can get strong at times, so midday can be punchy. Best flown in moderate, steady onshore flow; avoid overdeveloped/strong thermic conditions and Santa Ana (offshore NE/E) days, which produce rotor and unflyable lee conditions. No official USHPA chapter site guide with explicit numbers was found online; speed ranges are inferred from coastal SoCal sea-breeze norms and should be confirmed locally with the Malibu Paragliding Club. Intermediate (P3/H3-level) experience recommended; access/etiquette guidelines apply per Malibu Paragliding Club. Verify conditions and access on-site before flying.
