No dedicated club/USHPA site guide for a launch named "Deer Creek" was found by name; window is inferred from the SE/S/SW orientation hint plus general coastal ridge-soaring knowledge. The coordinates (34.0705, -118.992, 787 ft MSL) place it on a low south-facing coastal ridge in the western Santa Monica Mountains near Malibu/Corral Canyon, which works on the afternoon onshore sea breeze. Ideal is a roughly straight-onshore S flow (~180 deg), with the usable arc spanning SE through SW; the SE and SW edges become increasingly cross. Best time of day is typically late morning through afternoon once the sea breeze fills in (it can over-develop and get strong/gusty/thermic by mid-afternoon on warm inland days). Hazards: this is a low ridge, so blow-back/penetration is a real concern if the gradient or sea breeze exceeds ~18 mph base; expect rotor and venturi/compression in canyons and behind terrain when wind is off-axis or strong, plus typical coastal-mountain mechanical turbulence inland of launch. Santa Ana (offshore NE) conditions make the site unflyable/dangerous (downwind, rotor). Treat speeds as conservative coastal-soaring estimates; verify direction, speed limits, rating requirement, and any land-access/permission restrictions with local Southern California pilots/clubs before flying.
