Top of the range for paragliding (any rating). Switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
SCPA hike-up launch off Hwy 33 in Ojai, on the west side of Nordhoff Ridge (~1,900 ft). SW-facing; works on SE/S prefrontal and Santa Ana days, and is mainly used to bench up and head west toward Santa Barbara on east-flow days. Watch for strong venturi compression over the ridge as the Ventura River Gap draws up Hwy 33 - pilots have been blown over the back, so leave room. Steep ~1,000 ft hike, power line near the road, and no designated LZ. Intermediate-to-advanced (roughly P3-P4).
