Pine Mountain / Reyes Peak south launch near Ojai (Topa Flyers club site, Los Padres NF). Smooth unobstructed 45-degree south-facing dirt ramp at ~7000-7110 ft MSL; works best in a south wind, ideal arc roughly SSE-S-SSW (150-210). Marginal edges extend into SE/SW (120-240). Per the Topa Flyers guide, prevailing winds that are cross or over the back make it "pretty trashy" - avoid N component flow (over the back) and strong cross. Primarily a thermal/XC site, not pure soaring: classic light-wind thermic launch, so ideal base wind is modest (~5-12 mph) with a relatively low usable ceiling (~15 mph) because midday desert/mountain thermals make it punchy and gusty. Hazards: ~4:1 glide to LZ ~3000 ft below, so strong headwind on launch can compromise the glide out; over-development on moist days. Best time: launch by 11-12 to beat over-development; mornings smoother. Rating/access: Hang 3 (P3-equivalent) recommended for south launch; current USHPA membership; paved/dirt road that may be snow-impassable in winter. Note: this is distinct from "Pine Mountain Rock L" (Desert Air Riders, a NW-facing 280-360 site at 6400 ft) - the SE/S/SW orientation hint and 7110 ft elevation match the south-facing Reyes Peak launch. Speed/gust numbers inferred from site type since the club guide gives no explicit values.
