Coastal ridge/soaring site on the edge of the Pacific just east of Pepperdine, Malibu; launch faces south toward the ocean (545 ft MSL). Works on a south-quadrant onshore sea breeze. Ideal is a straight-in S to SSW flow (~150-210 deg); SE and SW are usable but cross/edge (marginal ~120-240). Best conditions are the afternoon thermic/sea-breeze cycle; mornings are typically too light, and overdevelopment of the sea breeze or a Santa Ana (offshore NE) shuts it down and can be dangerous (offshore = rotor/sink on the lee). Light-to-moderate winds preferred; the launch is tree-bounded so gusty/over-strength conditions are hazardous. A favorite of the Malibu/SoCal paragliding community; typically flown by rated P2+/P3 pilots and used for tandem instruction. NOTE: speed/gust figures are inferred from orientation hint + general coastal-soaring norms - no club/USHPA guide with explicit numeric wind ranges was retrievable (detail pages are JS-rendered); verify locally before flying.
