Wind direction
ENE (70°) → ESE (110°)
The wind must blow from within this arc. Direction is the same for both wings.
Ideal speed
0–12 mph
Ceiling · Paragliding
≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23
Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Advanced H4 only; experienced H3 w/ guidance. ~9000ft, road-cut launch faces E into valley; sheltered so often thermal-blocks on launch w/ rotor in lee of Wonoga heading out - jump to S side of canyon for cleaner upslope. Valley >20mph any dir = hazardous; ~10-12mph N is OK here. Light winds critical; S valley wind switches midmorning. Spring/Fall best.
