RVHPA (USHPA chapter) site guide gives explicit numbers: works 220-270 deg, ideal wind straight-in (~245, WSW/SW). PG usable 2-14 mph, ideal ~7 mph; HG usable 10-20 mph, ideal ~10 mph. Advanced XC site only: high-desert remote launch at ~5680 ft MSL in Shasta Valley, known for strong summer thermals and excellent glass-off; demands thermal + high-altitude launch signoff and strong situational awareness. Hazards: strong/cycling thermals on hot days, overdevelopment, and the remote terrain (limited LZ options, very long XC retrieves). Best window is typically afternoon thermal cycles into the evening glass-off. ACCESS: launch and LZ are on PRIVATE land - site intro and waiver required, plus current RVHPA and USHPA membership. Site record 87.8 mi (Hayden Glatte, 2011).
