Wind direction

SSW (200°) → WSW (250°)

The wind must blow from within this arc. Direction is the same for both wings.

Ideal speed

6–14 mph

Ceiling · Paragliding

≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23

Top of the range for paragliding (any rating). Switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.

SW-facing high-desert launch (~6,200 ft) southeast of Klamath Falls. The Kingsley Field ATC manager has asked pilots not to fly here: launch sits right against the busy LMT approach corridor, and the local club asks pilots to honor that request to protect the working relationship with ATC. Strong midday thermals and lee-side rotor off the back; smoother in the evening, but the airspace conflict stands at all times. Check with local Klamath pilots before any attempt.
