Top of the range for paragliding (any rating). Switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.

Drive-up W/NW-facing thermal launch in Eagle River, flown by the Arctic Air Walkers. Best in W-to-NNW winds around 5-12 mph with light gusts. Do NOT launch in southerlies - they cause rotor and poor penetration, and pilots have repeatedly ended up in the trees. Beware the 'Baldy Bubble,' which can read flyable while the surrounding area is blown out and then push through strong wind, sink and turbulence when it bursts. Tight LZ at the soccer fields by the Harry McDonald Center. Requires an Arctic Air Walkers site pass ($5/day, $40/yr).
