East-facing grassy ridge launch north of Breezewood, PA, in Buchanan State Forest; maintained by CHGPA/MHGA. Works best in easterly winds; pilot flight reports note E to ENE winds working well, so the ideal arc centers on due East (ESE through ENE). Marginal/cross extends toward NE and SE/S per the paraglidingEarth orientation hint (NE,E,SE). Ideal speed 6-13 mph documented from successful flights; launches reported as low as 5-8 mph (marginal). Good thermal site with flights of 1-2+ hours and climbs to 5,250-6,200 ft MSL. Access: USHPA membership required, H2/P2 rating with an observer. MUST contact landowner in advance to confirm LZs are not planted with crops, and notify Buchanan State Forest (717-485-3148) before flying. Paragliders can land on top of the ridge. Max speed/gust values are inferred (typical mid-Atlantic ridge limits), not explicitly published.
