CHGPA-owned site on the western slope of Massanutten Mtn. Ridge faces NW; stated flyable direction is NW (310), but the actual launch (FL slot between two HG ramps) faces W, so the working arc runs roughly W to NW. Difficult/marginal in a N cross (N component is the limiting hazard) and a spine to the left of launch causes problems in westerly crosswinds. A venturi at launch makes real winds notably HIGHER than forecast, so treat speed limits conservatively; conversely valley winds are often lighter than forecast except under strong thermal days when they exceed forecast. Strong thermal activity common; wave lift available in winter. Speed numbers are inferred (club guide gives no explicit mph) from ridge-soaring norms plus the venturi caution. Elevation ~1900 ft MSL / ~1100 AGL, glide to LZ 5.5:1; bridge LZ is planted in crops in summer. Day-use only, sunrise to sunset, no fees. Rating: H2/P2 with observer. Best in afternoon/evening; evening glass-off and sunset flights are common.
