SW-facing launch at the 4,400 ft summit of Weiss Knob, Canaan Valley Resort - WV's first public paragliding site, reached by chairlift (paragliders only; hang gliders can't ride the lift). It faces the prevailing SW wind over Red Creek Valley. MHGA rules: no launch if wind is outside 190-290 degrees, over 15 mph average, or gusting over 20; steady SW (about 200-250) is the sweet spot. Needs USHPA membership, a signed MHGA waiver, and an advance launch reservation. High elevation means strong afternoon thermals, so respect the limits. Two family-farm LZs are set up nearby.
