West Launch faces due west and is the primary launch; works best in a west breeze with a slight north component (ideal ~W to WNW). Flyable arc per UHGPGA site guide is NW through SW (225-315). A separate East Launch (800 yds upslope, steep/short/rocky, rarely used by PGs) handles S/SE winds (SSW-ESE), not reflected in the arc above which is for the main West Launch. Site rating H3/P3 (H2/P2 with instructor); USHPA + UHGPGA membership required; first-timers should get an in-person briefing from a local. PG ideal 6-8 mph, max ~10; HG ideal ~10, max ~18 mph - ideal/base ranges here blend the two. Hazards: midday/summer thermic turbulence cycling through launch and valley, VERY high density altitude in summer (adjust takeoff run), steep rocky launch, dense waist-high sagebrush in LZ making run-out landings difficult, transmission wires and towers near the landing area, and no emergency services. Best flown morning or accounting for midday heating. Elevation ~7,500-8,050 ft MSL, Juab County, Uinta NF.
