Saddle Mountain (Vantage/Mattawa, WA) — north-facing, ~14-mile-long ridge overlooking Beverly Dunes ORV Park. Per the Cloudbase Country Club / NW Paragliding site guide it is "a great winter ridge soaring site that works with a N-NNE wind when few other sites are flyable," flown as a ridge site in moderate North winds in fall/winter/spring; also a thermal/XC site. Ideal arc is centered on N (NNW-NNE, ~340-030); cross/edge into NW and ENE is marginal. The PGE orientation hint adds W/NW octants (ridge bends/secondary faces), but the primary, documented working window is NORTH. HAZARDS: desert site — mid-day thermals can be sharp/strong and "EXTREMELY DANGEROUS for newer pilots"; best flown morning or evening (or winter) to avoid extreme mid-day air. Beware blow-back behind a 14-mile ridge in stronger N flow. ACCESS/RATING: Novice (P2) and up in appropriate conditions; USHPA membership required; launch/top-land area is privately owned under a CBCC land-use agreement (site-fund donation encouraged). Huge LZ at Beverly Dunes. Speed numbers are ridge-soaring norms inferred from the description (club guide does not publish explicit mph), so direction is high-confidence while speed/gust figures are approximate.
