Miller Canyon (Huachuca Mts, Carr Peak), managed by SAHGA. Site sits ~7600 ft MSL above high desert. Three launches: NE launch faces 350-30 deg (go), E launch 45-90 deg (go), SE/HG launch 90-120 deg (go) — combined working arc spans roughly N/NE through E to SE. PG launch (E/NE) ideal 8 mph, usable 3-12 mph, max gust differential 4 mph/3s (HG launches allow 5-25 mph on SE with wire crew >10 mph, gust diff 5 mph/3s). Listed speeds reflect the conservative PG E/NE window. THERMAL site — fly it as such; avoid ridge soaring or scratching close to terrain. No-wind launches NOT recommended. SE launch is dangerous for PG: a nasty rotor often sets up +15 ft above the ramp and twists canopies on launch. Other hazards: cliff edges obscured by vegetation, turbulent air/sink behind launch, convergence near peaks, generally turbulent canyon air, rock reef rotor. Best window: light SE in the morning, switching to stronger (unflyable) NW in the afternoon. Controlled airspace 2-mile radius around a tethered aerostat to the north; do not fly N of Carr Canyon Rd E of Rte 92. Access via Carr Canyon Rd (2WD dirt, often snow-closed late Nov-Mar/Apr); 1/4-mile hike to ramps. Rating: PG P3 (P2 w/ sponsor), HG H3 (H2 w/ sponsor); special skills (FL, CL, HA) required. Experienced pilots / local guide strongly recommended.
