Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
Afternoon/evening cliff launch in Dominguez Canyon southeast of Grand Junction (~5,500 ft), flying the west-to-northwest cycle. An intermediate-and-up thermic site — described as strong and not beginner-friendly, with committing cliff terrain and limited bailout. A separate morning site about 3 km away flies the opposite (SE/S) direction. Expect high-desert thermals and lee/rotor risk if the wind backs south.
