What we look for at Lincoln mtn

Wind direction

SE (135°) → S (180°)

The wind must blow from within this arc. Direction is the same for both wings.

Ideal speed

6–14 mph

Ceiling · Paragliding

≤ 19 mph base · gusts ≤ 23

Top of the range for paragliding (any rating). Switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.

Undeveloped, unverified Front Range launch in the Monument/Palmer Lake area just west of I-25 (~7,400 ft). Reported to face SE-S, so wind from that arc works best. Strong gusty downslope and channeled winds are common here; the main danger is lee rotor if the wind carries any N/NW/W component - don't fly it then. Thermic and prone to overdevelopment; morning or evening is smoothest. Access is likely private/unestablished - confirm legality and get a local RMHPA briefing before flying.
