Top of the range for paragliding (any rating) — switch wings up top to compare. Hang gliders hold roughly 10 mph more than paragliders.
The 13,678 ft summit of Pikes Peak - an extreme hike-and-fly / vol-biv launch for experienced pilots, not a casual club site. At this altitude true airspeed runs far above indicated, so keep wind light and launch early before convection builds; west/lee winds bring severe rotor and sink and are unflyable. Main hazards are afternoon storms and strong thermic cycles - be down by early afternoon. Advanced/expert only.
