Source: UHGPGA (Utah Hang Gliding & Paragliding Association, the local USHPA chapter) Jupiter site guide. Flyable wind range given as WSW through S to SSE (the southerly arc, ~248 deg CCW to ~157 deg); core/ideal is SW-S-SE, matching the site's south/southwest-facing launch and the N,NE,SE,S,SW octant hint. Speeds are for paragliders (P3): ideal 6-8 mph, max base ~12 mph, gust tolerance only ~5 mph (very low — this is a high-altitude thermal site, not a soaring/ridge site). Hang gliders (H3): ideal ~10, max 15. RATING/ACCESS: USHPA P3/H3 required (P2 only with instructor supervision); launch sits at ~9,870-9,980 ft MSL with extreme density altitude, so true ground speeds at takeoff/landing are much higher than indicated airspeed — described as 'not a go-to site for average pilots,' effectively P4-favored. Access via paved road to Guardsman Pass (seasonal winter closure; 4WD/chains in snow) then a ~0.5 mi hike to launch; the launch slope is steep. HAZARDS: strong late-day cyclic thermic turbulence and over-development (site is prone to rapid OD); storm/gust-front danger May-Aug; NORTH wind is a hazard, especially mid-afternoon and later, producing leeside/rotor conditions (do not fly N component). BEST TIME: narrow morning window roughly 11:00 AM-12:30 PM, often only a ~30-min sweet spot once thermals switch on, before conditions get too strong. Excellent XC launch when conditions are right. Coordinates and elevation confirm this is Jupiter Peak above Park City in the Wasatch.
