West-facing ridge-soaring launch just south of the Mollies Nipple landmark above Hurricane Valley, ~4373 ft MSL. Works on a SW-W-NW flow (core is straight W); pilot reports consistently describe it as "west-facing, look for west winds," matching the SW/W/NW orientation hint. MARGINAL on the SSW and NW/NNW edges where the wind goes cross to the ridge. HAZARDS/CONDITIONS: known as "Hurricane for a reason" — the valley can build strong afternoon thermal/venturi wind, so midday is often too strong/rowdy. BEST TIME OF DAY: evening glass-off — pilots commonly spend the day in nearby Zion and fly the last few hours before sunset when wind eases; glass-offs are reportedly excellent. The LZ is right below launch (convenient bail-out), and you can also climb out, turn downwind, and land near dirt roads off the highways. ACCESS: launch is hard to find amid a maze of dirt roads; high-clearance/4WD recommended on the approach. For PG, bring a tarp to keep sticks/debris out of your lines. Active XC site (~39 XC days/yr per XContest). SPEED FIGURES ARE INFERRED (no explicit club/USHPA numbers found): treat ideal as a light-to-moderate soaring breeze and keep base/gusts conservative given the venturi reputation. Managed regionally by CUASA (Central Utah Air Sports Association) / UHGPGA — verify current rating and access requirements with them before flying.
